Pentatonic Box ("the Service," "we," "us") is an interactive guitar scale visualization tool available at pentatonicbox.com. By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
The Service is offered in two tiers:
We reserve the right to modify what's included in each tier at any time. We will never remove access that a paying customer has already purchased without a reasonable substitute or refund.
The following uses are not permitted under a standard Free or Pro license:
If you're interested in a commercial or institutional license, contact us at rich@farbeyonddigital.net.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card information — it is handled entirely by Stripe's secure payment infrastructure.
Cancel anytime through the Stripe Customer Portal linked in your purchase confirmation email, or by contacting us directly. Cancellation stops future billing and does not result in a refund for time already paid.
Pentatonic Box is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We don't guarantee the tool will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that the scale patterns are suitable for any specific musical purpose. Use it as a reference and learning aid — your ears are the final authority.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pentatonic Box shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our maximum liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
All content, design, code, and branding of Pentatonic Box is owned by or licensed to us. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the Service without permission. The underlying music theory content (scales, intervals, modes) is in the public domain — we make no claim to that knowledge, only to our specific implementation and presentation of it.
We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
We collect minimal data and only what's necessary to operate the Service:
We use the following third-party services that may process your data under their own privacy policies:
We do not use tracking cookies. The Service uses your browser's localStorage to remember your settings and Pro access status between sessions. You can clear this anytime through your browser settings — doing so will reset your preferences and may require you to restore Pro access via your email.
Feedback submissions are retained in our Formspree account until manually deleted. Payment records are retained by Stripe per their standard retention policy (typically 7 years for financial records). We do not store personal data on our own servers.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Since we hold very little data (only feedback submissions and payment emails), most requests can be fulfilled by emailing us directly:
If you are a California resident: we do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. You have the right to know what personal information we collect and to request deletion. Contact us at the email above to exercise these rights.
If you are located in the European Economic Area: our lawful basis for processing your email address (if provided via feedback or payment) is legitimate interest and contract performance. You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, and port your data. To exercise these rights contact us at the email above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
